Sarah Mason - Biography
National and International Award Winning Hairdressing Icon
With 25 years of experience in the Hairdressing Industry Sarah is recognised as one of Irelands most talented female award winning hairdressing Artists. Passionate about her career she has many accolades claimed to her name. The competitive hairdresser is well known to the competition floor and has been twice crowned Irish Hairdresser of the Year in 2008 and 2015 .In 2016 she was nominated by her peers to receive an Irish Icon Hall Of Fame and was awarded by the Irish Hairdressing Federation .
She began her training in 1993 in Dublin and worked her way to the top working for some of the most innovative hair salons in the country. Included on her CV Sarah has had many different roles in the salons including Manager, Creative Director, and Salon Educator.
At the age of 3 hairdressing was on the cards for Sarah plaiting and braiding hair from the age of six and it was at that young age local families would employ her to do communion and confirmation hair. It wasn’t long before the local ballet school and drama society were looking for her! At 16 she started her training in Dublin. At 21 she took up a role in Management and head of Education for a Salon Group in north Dublin. In 2006 she decided to take a turn in her career and move to the creative side which is her passion and grew a nice cabinet of trophies and accolades.
Over the years Sarah has appeared on national television including Ireland AM, Off the Rails and Expose. She has often featured in national magazines and newspapers for her expertise and awards such as Image Magazine, Irish Times Life Magazine, Galway Now and other various publications.
Sarah relocated to the west of Ireland in 2011 to raise her family here with her husband Shamus whom is a native of Galway. They live with their 2 children, Safiya and Alexander in Annaghdown. Since her move she has worked here locally building her client base and has had a successful career to date.
In 2016 Sarah opened her company Sarah Mason Professional. With a high attention to detail she is also very innovative when it comes to her business. Renowned for her education and development for young junior and senior hairdressers that crave the industry. Together with her name and awards she has brought her knowledge, creative skills and refreshing energy in mentoring her own salon team. Since opening her business, she and her team have brought numerous awards both to her Salon and to the west of Ireland. Sarah welcomes her client base from all four corners of the country and overseas as far as London, New York and Australia to seek her expertise in the relaxing hub which she calls her creative home. Stocking her salon exclusively with Wella Professionals she is now enjoying her career more than ever. In 2019 she won her first business award for Emerging New Business with Network Ireland.
Sarah has been a proud long term member of the Wella Professionals Irish Style Council Team as a guest Artist. She shares her expertise and delivers educational seminars in the Wella studios’ in Dublin throughout the year. She is also a Passionistas which is a global platform for elite stylists to showcase their work from around the world and gets great opportunities to work with creative artists for Global Product Launches & social series event which are held in the Wella world studio in London. As a part of the team she works closely with other irish artists in a creative collaboration creating 2 fashion collections for the top.
The National Wella Trend Vision Awards which are held in Dublin every year. This event allows Sarah to showcase her work live on stage in front of a large audience. Along with the team she also creates two collections for the top leading Irish magazines advertising who she is and where she can be found. Over the past two years Sarah has also had many opportunities working back stage and assisting Global Creative Director Eugene Souliemen at London Fashion Week, working on some of the most sought after shows.
Sarah has been competing at International levels since 2007 on Team Ireland and has travelled with the team to Oslo, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid and London and has presented herself as a finalist for International Visionary Award held in the Royal Albert Hall in London. After years of Awards and hard work she is now being asked to judge these events both Nationally and Internationally.
