A Galway hairdresser is in the running for one of the lop spots in the THF Star Team competition. Aileen Donohue, of Sarah Mason Professional Award-Winning Hair, has reached the final 15 of the Irish Star Team 2016. The aim of the lHF Star Team is to give talented young hairdressers in the industry the opportunity to develop their skills by offering them the highest standards possible in mentoring and coaching from industry legends.
Aileen submitted her CV to the Irish Hairdressing Federation in July in the hopes of claiming a place in the final. A very high standard of talent, competitiveness and skill were evident from the level of entries received and the top 24 candidates attended a boot camp training with David Campbell of House of Colour, followed by a day where they produced a fashion model revealing the current trends. All candidates were interviewed by some of the leading names in the hairdressing industry, with the top 15 selected to go forward to the grand finale.
"It was the most incredible feeling to have this opportunity," Aileen said. "The team at Sarah Mason Professional huve been working together to support me in this entry while multi-award winning salon owner Sarah Mason has been mentoring me in the preparation for the project, presentations and interviews."
The top 15 finalists will now attend the Irish Hairdressing Federation lcon Ball held in O'Callaghans Alexander Hotel on 13 November where the four new stars will be revealed for 2016/17. Award-winning stylist Olive Tucker Lee from House of Colour will mentor the four talented apprentices over the next 12 months and they will also enjoy the benefits of a year long education programme, photo shoots, catwalk shows and hair events nationally and internationally.
